The College had taken great pains to Aircondition the hall where examinations were conducted. Funds were short. Yet we wanted to ensure the students wrote their examinations in comfort.
Treasurer is my role there.
As I was stepping out I saw a few students coming out of the exam hall.
I enquired whether the AC was functional. They said AC was there. There was no answer to the question whether it was comfortable. The answer was a sullen, "It was cold inside, but it's very hot outside."
We are moored in negativism. Good is a word that will never come out of us, I thought.
When I forwarded this to the apex authority of the College, the reply was just two words.
"Mallus' mind!'
"Exact coinage,'' I responded.
