The Principal of KUT Seminary, Kannammoola, Trivandrum, knew Lila and the well known writer Chandramathi were good friends. They were classmates for MA English at the Women's College, Trivandrum. The writer was Kumari Chandrika at that time. She was absorbed by the All Saints College, Trivandrum after her post graduation. Later she became Ms.Chandrika Balan and Prof.Dr. Chandrika.
The Principal had a policy of inviting all time greats to address the sudents of the KUT Seminary.
He requested Lila to help out by extending his invitation to the famed writer on his behalf.
Lila wrote to her friends after sitting through the entire session:
"Today, 22.7.22, I had the great privilege and fortune to listen to our own Chandrika at the KUT Seminary, Kannammoola, Trivandrum. She was in her full elements. The capacity audience heard her in rapt attention. They clapped at the conclusion for several minutes.
"I was indeed happy for her. It was a mind boggling, explosive discourse that went on for more than an hour.
The range, the depth, the vocabulary and the references were purely out of the world. I had to Google when she mentioned 'Staccato.' No wonder she's a force to reckon with. She drew from her experiences, struggles, successes and the self induced breaks in her creative life."
"The icing was the closure."
"At the end, to a query how to become a good writer, she had responded,"
"Write the story you want to read."
