Delhi University introduces a new course.
NEGOTIATING INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS
It's a general elective course which all students across disciplines can join.
It's conducted by the Dept of Psychology beginning from the academic year
2025 -26.
The four credit course will have a structure of three lectures and one tutorial per week.
It's designed for undergraduates who have cleared Class 12.
The course is split into four units.
1. The Psychology of friendships and intimate relationships
2. Understanding love
3. Signs of relationships going sour.
4. Flourishing relationships
The University introduced the course because/of:
1. It felt the need for such a course.
2. General growing concern over rising crimes among the teens.
3. Violence triggered by failed or toxic relationships
4. Lack of emotional awareness about intimacy
The University feels:
1. Such a course can deconstruct unhealthy patterns
2. It would make people rethink what love should look like.
3. It would prevent emotional harm and violence.
4.Honest conversations would be beneficial to sort out issues before they go out of hand
