WHEN WE HAD VISITED DUBAI IN 2006 THE ECONOMY WAS FLOURISHING.
OFFICES, FLATS AND RESIDENTIAL APARTMENTS HAD COMMANDED HEFTY RATES
WE SAW ANOTHER DUBAI IN 2010.
WE SAW ADVERTISEMENTS EVERYWHERE LIKE THE ONE HERE.
WE WERE TOLD THAT THE RATES HAVE PLUMMETED. THE TAXI DRIVER WHO TOOK US FROM RASHIDIA TO THE CREEK SAID THAT EARLIER THE TRAFFIC HAD BEEN SO HEAVY THAT IT HAD TAKEN ONE AND A HALF HOURS TO COVER THE DISTANCE. BUT IN 2010 WE COULD COVER THE DISTANCE IN HALF AN HOUR.
THAT WAS THE RECESSION EFFECT.
WE HAD LOVED THE DUBAI WE SAW IN 2006
AND
WE PRAYED THAT DUBAI BECAME STRONG AS IT HAD BEEN EARLIER
